Resurrection of the Blog!

Life is full of distractions and I for one have had far too many distractions to even count. Thus the reason I have not posted to this site in three years. That must change, not only because it is a requirement to my current program of study for grad school but because I feel regularly posting current work will help in the way of regaining my focus and trajectory of my career.

This past week was my first week of school at ETSU where I am pursuing a graduate degree in New Media Studio M.A. There I hope to learn and become competent in 3D animation software and a broader under standing of New Media as an art form. It is a two year degree, which means a lot of work in a very short period of time. I hope and believe I am up to the task.

In the meantime check out a 2D animation I did in preparation for this new venture. It is titled S.U.P. Duck. A paddle boarder and a duck meet; calamity ensues. More work to follow!

Tis The Season...

To Go Snowboarding!!!!!!

I bet you all thought I was going to say Christmas!? Well, you were wrong, but seeing how tomorrow is Christmas I'd like share a few thoughts.  I don't have anything on a Christmas list to ask for, at least nothing that could just be given to me. Many of the things on my want list are simply just goals I want to achieve like become a published illustrator, go back to school to be trained in animation to hopefully get a job with Pixar or any other respected animation company, travel the world, be knowledgable in well,...as many things I can be knowledgable in. Can Santa bring me that?  It be so much easier! No, Santa can't just give me those things, it takes hard work and disipline. I'm working on all these things.  One day it will happen I'm sure of it but, I've got to work!

I hope everyone enjoys their Holiday (Merry's Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa, and if your not religous like myself [but celebrate the Secular day for your family] Happy....Life you've only got one so make the most of it! drink some eggnog and go snowboarding for pete sake it's so fun!)

Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!
P.S.  I made a bunch of updates to my website www.juliewoodburn.com, take a look, tell a friend.

I Wanna Rock!

I have so many hobbies it's hard to keep up with everything.  I ride my bicycle all over the place, I play lacrosse, I ref lacrosse, I paint, and I play guitar.  I guess you could say this painting is more of a period piece with the Twisted Sister posters and wall to wall wood paneling.  I've played my guitar to many different audiences, some real and other imaginary.  The imaginary audiences I find to be nice especially when there is a cute little T-Rex cheering for you!...

The best audience by far is when I play my guitar for my nieces Kendal and Natalie...Natalie's starting to strum the guitar more and me and Kendal need to figure out more songs to sing.  I know the video is old, but it's cute. :)

It's been a while...

So I've been super busy and haven't been painting so much.  I finally traveled out of the country to Costa Rica, I moved out of my parents house, bought a new car and have been doing some serious bicycling.  My legs are tired so rather than spend my Labor day weekend pedaling about, I decided to do some labor of love: Paint!!!  I have been staring at this bear eating ice cream for too long and it makes me hungry.  Fortunately, I hung this painting over my kitchen table which seems appropriate.  As long as I don't get too many cravings for ice cream.

Happy Holidays

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Holiday, that's all inclusive (Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, or whatever you celebrate or don't!)

Anyway, I created two characters a moose and a mouse for a Christmas type story. I haven't figured out there story yet, but they are pretty cute.

Jelly

I made a Jelly fish that some how electrocutes things.  Not an educational picture, but they do sting.  Then itches, badly.
